A detailed engine report is provided from a non-bias second generation accredited marine engine surveyor with over a decade of hands on experience. This ensures you will always receive a dedicated marine engine surveyor inspector that cares about your personal safety and well-being. Not a salesperson. I have been born and raised in the marine industry to serve the client.

Fluid Sample Analysis

The purpose of a fluid sample analysis is to bring attention to abnormal internal engine or transmission issues that can be indicated in the sample analysis. This test is most often performed on the engines, transmissions, and generators oil. Interpreting oil analysis results is concerned with the relative values or trends of wear metal and other contaminants over a period of time. A single oil analysis for a given engine is of considerably less value than a consecutive series of analyses. Prior overheating, internal coolant leaks and many other issues can be indicated in a single oil sample.

Advanced Computer Diagnostics

Evaluating the engine diagnostics can provide invaluable information concerning the life of the engine and its components. The computer system is hooked up to the engine control module and helps to see the actual engine hours, the RPM run history, current engine fault codes, historic fault codes, and possible service history. The engine diagnostics can be used to evaluate prior alarms and detailed graphs of the engine performance for the history of the engine ECM component. This can be used to help determine how the engine has been operated over a length of time.

Thermal Imaging

Thermal imaging helps to locate possible issues with elevated temperatures. Thermal imaging examines high voltage electrical modules without affecting wires. I can view thermal patterns and high temperature modules as the engine is being operated. This gives the advantage of detecting any issues prior to it being visible without a thermal imaging camera.

Performance Test Run

A test run is conducted were various checks are completed to ensure the engine is performing as per factory and surveyor recommendations. A diesel engines performance can be affected by a various amount of conditions. A trial testing with various tests and a full throttle operation is completed to insure the vessels operation and safety.

Borescope

Borescopeing an engine. Performing a borescope on the engine helps determine the condition of internal parts in the engine. Borescopeing is performed on some model engines during a basic survey due to known issues with the engine and available accessibility. This can help determine if there are any on going or prior failures. A borescope can help determine the life of the engine and its condition. Borescopeing may often be recommended as a second part to the survey and any additional fees may apply.
